Becerra Photography Review

Hey all former Becerra Photography Brides! There is a new website called Wedding Wire that I think is going to be a great resource to Oregon Brides. It is a place were you can go and review different wedding vendors and also a place where wedding vendors can network as well.

If you had a great experience with Becerra Photography and would like to write a review, click on the above link to share your thoughts with other prospective brides. I'd really appreciate it!

Sean and Amanda at the 5th Street Public Market in Eugene

I've never shot a wedding quite like Sean and Amanda's! Those two know how to party! They had their ceremony on Thursday in the place where they first met, at the 5th Street Public Market in Eugene. (which is a very cool place with a lot of artsy little shops) Then on Saturday they continued the festivities at their one-of-a-kind reception, complete with gameshow host and bellydancer. All along the way Sean and Amanda let loose and had fun, and involved their guests in many get-to-know-you games. They are some of my favorite people to photograph because they are so expressive with their faces and they are willing to try anything, and I mean ANYTHING that I ask them to do for a picture. Make sure you watch the slideshow until the end because I love how their reception photos turned out!

P.S. I once again was able to work with Melissa at The Perfect Gathering who is FABULOUS and highly recommended. Also City Mouse Design took care of floral arrangements and did a knock out job. If you are wondering who designed the cake you'll have to contact Seans' nieces Aidan and Eryn who were also the flower girls. O and Amanda's gorgeous dress was made by her mom....but I don't have her website yet.

Kristine and Steve at Calvary Chapel Corvallis

Last weekend I had the privilege of shooting the very special wedding of Steve and Kristine at the new Calvary Chapel in Corvallis. This wedding was great because their children were their attendants and they were so excited as they were getting ready. I especially liked the fist bump silhouette as Steve and his son Steven were about to walk down the aisle.

Calvary Chapel is a great place to get married on Corvallis because they have both an indoor stage and an outdoor amphitheater that is just gorgeous. With the weather in Oregon you never now if you might need to run inside and the Chapel is great for that. Also, the beautiful flower arrangements were provided by Thistle Dew Farms . So if you need flowers check them out!

Back to school...

Sorry it has been a slow blogging week. I actually started my first Graduate courses this week! I'm taking an art class that I think is really helping me to see light and by forcing me to draw shadows and highlights I think it will help me to think about them more in my photography as well...Anyway I thought I'd through that little update out there. Lots more pictures to come in the weeks ahead!

Kristy and Ryan at Salishan Resort

For those of you who haven't been to Salishan Resort for a wedding you are missing out! The place is perfect with tons of beautiful architecture, the golf course and of course the beach. We took advantage of all three for Kristy and Ryan's wedding on the 13th of July. They were so tough they walked on rocks barefoot just to get the shot at the end of the slideshow with the tree and the sun coming through!

Even the closets look good at Zenith Vineyard...with a little help

I just wanted to share this quick before and after of a shot I took at Lauren and John's wedding last week. Most people would walk by a closet and not think of it as a great place for taking wedding pictures, but I loved how the light poured in and was just really soft so I had Lauren and John sit on the bench, I moved all the hangers out of the way and then in Photoshop took out distractions like the shelves and the power outlet. I don't usually use a lot of Photoshop, except for occasions like this.

John and Lauren at Zenith Vineyard

Wow! Wow! Wow! Last Saturday I had my first experience shooting at Zenith Vineyard , which is located north of Salem. I'm going to make a prediction that this is going to be THE place, for high-end weddings in Oregon. The facility is brand new, and we were only the 5th wedding to come through since they opened, but they are already booking up quickly for next year so get in and see them while you have a chance.

I'd also like to give a shout out to Class Act Events who provided wedding planning and coordination and Blum Floral Design (I'll get their link up soon too) who provided the amazing centerpieces that were just so tastefully done. All of the above vendors are highly recommended professionals who take real pride in their work.

If you'd like to see these pictures in full screen mode, click here to view them on my main website. Click on weddings, and then Lauren and John. Enjoy!

Rachel and Brad

Rachel and Brad's wedding was so much fun! I knew it would be a great time because they were so excited to get married. They booked me the day after they were engaged! Last Saturday I got to shoot Rachel and Brad's wedding at the Abernethy Center in Portland. It is a really beautiful location for an Oregon wedding. They have this huge tent that acted like a giant softbox and just diffused the light for the reception. I think it would be a great place to shoot at night as well. This slideshow is a little longer than my normal length so it might take a little longer to load...

New Slideshow

Just a quick note...If you haven't been to my main site, check out the opening slideshow ...I've updated it to go better with the new music I've got and I really like the effect. The opening song is more about relationships so I chose pictures of couples just interacting with each other and having a great time.

Kristy and Ryan Engagement

Kristy and Ryan may hold the record for engagement session closest to their wedding date. We shot their engagement session on July 5th and they'll be married on July 13th! We had a ton of fun though, I loved their smiles and Kristy was especially adventurous...let's just say she was in favor of finding new places to shoot. =)

Portland Oregon Wedding

I must be crazy but for two years now I've taken a two week vacation in the middle of wedding season. So, my apologies for the lack of wedding photos recently....stay tuned because there will be a lot more in the weeks to come.

For example...before I left for Colorado to visit my brother, I shot Will and Marissa's wedding in Portland at the LDS temple. LDS weddings are performed inside the temple where no photography is allowed, but the outside of the building is absolutley stunning and we got lots of great pictures after the ceremony. We then headed to Marissa's parents' house in Roseburg for a warm reception.
