And they call it Puppy Love

On Sunday I shot Rusty and Pepper's engagement session, their parents Haily and Sean tagged along too! Ok I know that line was really cheesey, but my wife said it was ok to use.... soooo anyway, Hailey Sean and I wondered around Corvallis with their pets and took advantage of the best light we've had in the past few weeks. Lot's of fun!

Getting Creative

You know I've shot maybe a half dozen engagement shoots at the OSU campus, and everyone has come out so different. Even though I'm shooting in the same place a lot of times , I always try to shoot a different angle or look for interesting architecture that will help me frame my subjects. AS you watch Kayla and Jesse's slideshow look for the picture with the bike rack and the fire escape, I really like these shots because I have walked by both places many times but this time I decided to try work them in to the shoot. I think that's what being creative is all about. Taking the everyday and using it to your advantage.

Spring is here!

Finally! The weather has been holding up enough lately to get in some engagement sessions. It has been a looooong winter but I'm glad to finally be shooting again. This is Will and Marisa. Enjoy!

Fashionably Late

Ok so my blog has been pretty boring lately. During the winter months I just haven't gotten out and shot as much as I would have liked to. Sure I've taken a ton of pictures of my kids, but you can always go to Kara's blog for that.

I did have a great time doing my first fashion shoot today though. A friend of mine is a fabulous fashion design teacher at OSU and she wanted some shots of her clothes, and like I said, I haven't gotten to shoot much this winter, so I jumped at the chance.

Shooting fashion was actually harder than I thought it would be. In shooting weddings I am always focused on the person's face, and the lighting on their face. I'm not really worried about making their clothes look great. In fashion it's all about the clothes, and it was challenging to focus the pictures on the garment. It was a great learning experience though!

Daddy Daughter

At a wedding there are millions of touching moments, and I'm lucky enough to be able to capture them for my clients. One moment always gets me though. The Daddy Daughter Dance. I can't help but tear up a little when I watch a father dance with his daughter on her wedding day. I always start thinking about Sofia and how she's growing up so fast. I know she's only two but I know that some day I'm going to have that dance as well...
Here are some of my favorite Daddy Daughter Moments.

Inspiring quote

So I read a pretty interesting quote the other day from an amazing wedding photographer, David Beckstead. He was talking about taking your business to the next level and said that in order to do so you should ask yourself some tough questions, among them “Are you completely excited about your website?” While my website has served me well during the past year, I wanted something more. I wanted bigger pictures and a smoother design. I searched the web for the right look and when I found it decided to go ahead and make the investment. I can honestly say I am completely excited about my new site. It is big, bold and beautiful, and offers me the flexibility to adjust it as I have a few big changes in store for later on in the year.

Ok, enough blabbing. Go check it out!
