Another Sofia Post

Ok so I've posted a lot of pictures of my daughter, but can you blame me? I mean look at this kid! Sofia came to the coast on the weekend to help shoot and I couldn't resist taking a few shots of her.

Last night she got really sick and she kept throwing up, she couldn't even keep water down. Kara and I were so worried. So what do you do when you are worried about your baby? You call your mom. The person who babied you. I called my mom and she gave us some good advice. We got Sofia the medicine she needed and everything was ok. I'm so grateful for a mom that I can call anytime. She knows everything. Thanks Mom!

Engagement!

Well this has been a great weekend. My sister and her fiance, Mark, came up to shoot their engagement pics, and Anita insisted that they be on the coast. Lucky for her the weather cleared up really nice and we had a beautiful background to shoot on.

Ok so yeah, my little sister is getting married. I guess I'm supposed to feel all defensive and stuff, but actually I'm really excited for her. Mark is a great guy and I'm sure they are going to be very happy. I love you Nita!

GOOOOOOOOGLE

All right. I've told you that I love Apple, now I must tell you of my Google obsession. Of course everyone uses google for search purposes, but I also really like their email service through gmail, I use their payment service, google checkout, to accept credit cards, I use the google calendar to keep track of weddings and appointments, I use google analytics to understand patterns on my website, I have a customized google homepage that has all of my most used tools and websites on it, I also am a big fan of google spreadsheats and who hasn't played with google earth?

On top of providing all these cool application for free, Google treats their employees with respect and encourages a fun innovative atmosphere. They were recently recognized by Fortune magazine as the best company to work for in America.

I just think it is amazing that a company can have such an innovative and successful culture. As a business own it is inspiring to see what a couple of creative ideas can do. I hope you click on the links above and let google make your life easier!

GOT MUSIC ?

The right music can really make you want to shake it, as demonstrated by Katie and Larry in this picture.

So I am announcing the search for some new tunes to go along with my slideshows on my website. I'd like to update the pictures and the music that goes with them fairly regularly so if you're a musician that would like a little more exposure, drop me an email and if I like your music I'll put it on the web with a link back to your page. Stay tuned!

Ganas

My dad can do anything. Really, it's true. If there is something that I've learned from my dad's example it is that you can do anything that you want to. When I was growing up I was amazed that my dad could fix anything. Even if he hadn't seen it, or knew about it, he could fix it.

My dad came to the United States from Honduras when he was 8 years old. He wasn't in Honduras long enough to learn how to read and write well in Spanish, and by the time he was able to understand enough English to get by in a classroom, his peers were already reading to learn, not learning to read. Back then there were no ESL programs so he pretty much went through high school not knowing how to read and write. I remember being in 4th grade and correcting him when we read scriptures together as a family. He also was identified as having dyslexia.

When he was 35, and I was a freshman in high school, my dad decided to go back to school and become an art teacher. Going to college was not an easy thing for my dad, but he did it. He was the first from his family to do so.

When I look back at my first year in business, I think that any sort of determination or will power, or ganas, to succeed comes from my dad. He has always shown me, through his example, that you can overcome great obstacles if you have ganas. Thanks Dad, I love you.

(Here is a picture of my dad and I on a visit to the George Lucas Education Foundation at Skywalker Ranch.)

Got Video?

For any brides that are interested, my cousin Jared will be joining me in the spring and will be starting a videography business. For a few months he will be working exclusively with Becerra Photography.

Jared has assisted me with weddings in the past, (he took the picture above) and is very talented. He has an eye for capturing moments that just cannot be taught. I'm very excited for Jared, and I think he is going to provide a wonderful service for many many brides. If you are interested in hiring Jared for your wedding please contact me by email!

Apple-Mania!!

All right, if you don't already know...some people have called me an Apple Freak. But I prefer the term "Apple Evangelist". That is right. I am commited to spreading the good word that Apple makes the coolest, most user-freindly, and professionally sound software and hardware out there. Today was no exception with Apple anouncing their new iPhone. The device is amazing! An ipod, a phone, a pda, and a web-browser all-in-one. I've been begging for something with this kind of functionality ever since I got my first cell phone 5 years ago. My only complaint is that I have to wait until June to buy one!!!! This will seriously try my patience. I'm sure the iPhone will add a whole lot of effiency to my business.

Anyways this is a picture of my family at one of our annual christmas parties....we didn't even plan on bring our laptops, but we all just showed up with them because we're addicted. You know they say addictions can be genetically related.......

One New Year's Resolution

Ok so here it is. I have one New Year's Resolution--5:00. That's it, 5:00. It means that my resolution is to wake up at 5 a.m. everyday. I feel that if I can do that I'll have enough time to do everything that I need to do. For example, there isn't anything good on T.V. at 5 in the morning. No one else is awake at 5 in the morning, so I can be uninterrupted in whatever I'm working on. When I look back in my life I think that times when I was consistently waking up early are times that I have been very productive, and happy! So there it is, my one New Year's Resolution. Check in on me to make sure I stick to it!

I couldn't think of a good picture to go with this post so I thought I would just show another Sofia picture....plus I had to show I picture of me pre-haircut!
